British designer collaborates with The Wall Sticker Company
British designer Ashley Le Quere has partnered with Australia’s The Wall Sticker Company to design a range of removable wallpaper inspired by Australian flora and fauna.
After studying illustration in Bristol, England and completing an internship with one of the UK’s leading surface pattern designers, Le Quere travelled the world before settling in Melbourne.
“I love the creativity that flows through Melbourne, from the houses to the little tucked away laneways,” she says. “It’s so inspiring.”
The collaboration came about after Le Quere asked The Wall Sticker Company to print some of her designs onto wallpaper for a magazine photo shoot.
“We printed one of Ashley’s wallpaper designs for her, and we had to see more,” says Jen Menz, director of The Wall Sticker Company.
Le Quere’s range of four designs feature birds, fish, animals and leaves and were inspired by a three month stint in Byron Bay picking coffee. “It was so inspiring just being around nature, it was so beautiful,” she says.
The designs are hand drawn and then printed onto 100 per cent polyester fabric. To apply, the wallpaper is simply stuck onto the wall, and can be peeled off without removing paint or leaving any residue behind.
As Le Quere’s time in Australia is coming to an end, she is going back to the UK where she will launch a collection of handcrafted homewares.
