Planinsek Art goes international with US distribution
Australian abstract artist, Chloe Planinsek, has been picked up for distribution in the US and Canada after signing with an American agent to develop a new range.
Due to be released later this year, the products will include cushions, tote bags, acoustic wall panels and printed canvases though there is potential for pieces like table cloths and iPhone covers as well.
Planinsek, known in Australia for her artwork, wallpaper and cushions, was spotted by the US company after posting an image on LinkedIn of one of her splashback collaborations with Paul M.
“After many emails back and forward with questions answered and Skype conversations, we signed a two a half year contract together,” she says. “They have a fantastic grasp on the American and Canadian market, so I am really excited to see how we go.”
This is the first time Planinsek Art has been available in an overseas market and it’s likely the brand will continue to be available in more territories with talk of taking the new range to China.
“It is extremely exciting,” she adds. “To be in America is a step which I have loved the idea of but wasn’t sure how to go about getting representation there. So to have a business contact me was a dream come true.
“My new agent mentioned there are possibilities of taking the range to China too. We thought we would see how it goes in America and Canada, and if it goes well we will look to take the range to China. As they like products made in America, it could be a nice concept to have the range extend there. So it seems the next five years could be an exciting time for growth.”
