Eco-design brand EvenOdd launches in Australia
Bag and accessories brand EvenOdd, which uses recycled materials to construct bags and accessories has launched in Australia with Upcycle Studio signing on as distributor.
The label is run by two graphic designers who use a range of materials from vinyl signs, truck tarps and bike inner tubes to make messenger bags, wallets, wrist cuffs and iPad and laptop bags.
Upcycle Studio approached the duo after seeing their utility pouch while travelling in the US.
“Their approach is a little different to some of the other Upcycled brands,” says Joanne Crocker, Upcycle Studio owner. “They mix reclaimed materials with wool herringbone and pinstripes, bright coral and chartreuse linings and waxed canvases making them quite unique and unlike any other bags I’ve seen.
“EvenOdd was created by two young girls and one seriously cool Bulldog. They’re a no fuss kind of team who like to get on with things and just truly love designing and making. Their energy and passion for their craft is the perfect inspiration for anyone who appreciates good design and quality.”
The addition of EvenOdd to Upcycle Studio’s portfolio adds a more feminine edge to its bag offering as most of its current collection has a masculine look.
“The brand has been received really well, it’s quite nice to watch people’s reactions when they see the product for the first time,” adds Crocker. “The ash coloured waxed canvas and the dark black of the inner tube exteriors are a bit of a disguise for the many interesting interior linings. The classic linings and the pop of colour on some of the clutches are always cause for a nice surprise.”
