Escargot breaks into US market
Australian kids swimwear brand Escargot has launched internationally with a successful appearance at the Children’s Club Trade Fair in New York.
Escargot’s designs will go into American stores in October for the resort season and January for the spring season.
The label has also attracted the attention of two of the top fashion agents in the US, which has led to global orders from as far as Saudi Arabia.
“So many of the people I’ve met here tell me how much they want to visit Australia and experience one of our gorgeous summers,” says Kate Zarboch, director. “Hopefully, Escargot can help them capture it for a fraction of the price and without the 14-hour plus plane trip.
“The launch went extremely well… it was great to meet the US buyers from the small boutiques right up to the department store buyers, like Barneys New York.
“Because Australia is known for great swimwear and Escargot has its own unique style, prints and details – like built-in tutus and foil sparkles on the lycra collection – it was loved by many.”
Zarboch started Escargot in 2011 to fill a gap in the market for fun yet durable kids swimwear. It is now stocked in more than 50 retailers across Australia.
Local retailers can buy the collection before it hits New York stores.
