One of Gibson Imports’ founders, Don Moir, sadly passed away last week at the age of 72.
Don has worked in the gift industry for over half a century and at Gibson Imports since 1960, when the company was launched. Gibson Imports is an Australian owned giftware importer, wholesaler and distributor.
His son, managing director Jamie Moir says he was ultra-competitive to the end.
“He really loved the gift industry and valued the support and many friendships he shared with many other exhibitors, customers and other colleagues within the industry,” he says.
“We have received messages from many of these people and the family would like to thank them all for their support. He will be dearly missed.”
General manager Tim McCann says Don was an inspiring individual to his employees and to many suppliers and customers across both the giftware and eyewear industries.
“His enthusiasm around the office and at the gift fairs was infectious. His acute understanding of the giftware and eyewear markets provided a solid and regular sounding board to many of us,” he wrote on the company’s Facebook page.
