minimink celebrates 10 years in business
Luxurious faux fur brand minimink has come of age marking 10 years since launching with a baby rug/wrap/throw that continues to be a top seller.
Ally Schulz founded the label after getting such a positive reaction to the rug she’d made for her son who at the time was soon to be born.
It has now grown to include booties, mittens, cushions and adult size blankets in various colours. minimink will continue to add more pieces this year with a new colour to the collection – silver grey – and a baby snuggly.
Schulz says her consistency of product quality and dedication to customer service has helped the brand to survive a decade.
“It is quite hard to believe that it has been a full 10 years but dates don’t lie,” she says. “It is also very exciting, as well as humbling, to think that due to our customers we are still here.”
“My 15 year old daughter said to me recently ‘even if minimink wasn’t yours it would still be one of my favourite things’. That made me proud that I had produced a product that doesn’t go out of fashion in two weeks, that doesn’t break or go out of date, or that children don’t get too old for it.”
New designs have been added to the label when Schulz noticed a gap in the market but one thing remains the same. “Interestingly our most popular product – the baby rug – is still our best-seller and the biggest selling colour for 2012 was the same original colour we launched with.
“It has definitely evolved and if you asked me 10 years ago how many products we would have at this time and whether we would be worldwide I would never have dreamt it possible,” she adds.
