Hamptons inspires new OneWorld pieces
OneWorld Collection will unveil its latest homewares and furniture at Reed Gift Fair Sydney later this week, drawing on a range of influences including popular North American holiday spot The Hamptons.
Managing director Greg Ollerhead visited the US last year and saw the interior décor style in homes and stores mixed with natural pieces such as rattan, which makes it feel more relaxed. He felt it would be a good match for the Australian lifestyle.
“We feel this Hamptons look is becoming bigger all the time in Australia,” he says. “Sometimes it is just certain elements people choose like a few glass pendants over their kitchen counters but the Hamptons feel certainly works for the relaxed Australian coastal lifestyle we all enjoy or aspire to.”
The Hamptons look inspired OneWorld’s new striped sofa but also its handmade designer shades. Combining these pieces with the wholesaler’s rattan basketware and nickel table lamps will help enhance the look.
OneWorld will also launch a replica of a 1900 design orb chandelier. It is a departure from the more traditional chandeliers the company has produced over the past few years.
“We felt it was time for a change and when I saw this orb chandelier it felt like this would appeal to both modern and traditional homes. They have been using this type of pendant for hundreds of years in so many different rooms and settings. We had it made in nickel and rope – the nickel is a real show stopper and the rope gives a warm feel to any room.”
While the design sticks to the original the chandeliers have been given a modern look through updated colours.
The company has also added colour to other pieces in its new range. While it will still focus on neutrals OneWorld has added some subtle colours, which can be seen in its pastel velvet sofas.
